At the Heart of EV Charging in Suffolk
Believ has partnered with Suffolk County Council to deliver a major boost to electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure across the county, with around 6,000 new public charge points set to be installed as part of the council’s Plug in Suffolk programme.
Charge points will be deployed across residential streets and public car parks, helping residents without driveways to make the switch to electric vehicles. The network will include:
- Fast chargers for long-stay or overnight charging
- Rapid and ultra-rapid chargers for quick top-ups in public car parks
- PAS 1899 compliant infrastructure where possible, to ensure accessibility for all users
Believ will install, operate and maintain the charge points, all powered by 100% renewable energy. A local tariff will offer Suffolk drivers reduced charging rates, making EV ownership more affordable (see more details on this below).
Building the Foundations for Sustainable Travel in Suffolk
This rollout is supported by £5.3 million government funding through the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) scheme and a £16 million investment from Believ. Starting in the summer 2025, the first LEVI-funded charge point has now been installed, marking a significant milestone in the project.
Together, Suffolk County Council and Believ initially aim to install 2,100 on-street charge points and over 400 car park charge points, with numbers growing in line with EV demand. This initiative supports Suffolk’s Climate Emergency Plan and aims to ensure every resident is within a 5–10-minute walk or wheel of a charge point. Believ is also installing air quality sensors to help improve local air quality and reduce transport-related emissions.
Believ’s investment and expertise will help Suffolk meet its goal of 5,400 public charge points by 2030 and 12,000 by 2040, making EV ownership more accessible and sustainable for everyone.

How payments work
Check the Map
Check the map for the p/kWh, it is shown on the selected charger. Ensure you are logged in to see your price as members get lower prices.
Pre-auth
When you start a charge, a pre-auth is temporarily held on your default payment method. Once charging is complete any remaining pre-auth is released.
Charged for Usage
During your charging session you are charged the p/kWh shown on the charger or app.
Overstay Fees
Overstay fees apply 1 hour after the car finishes charging. Fast chargers: 5p/min (09:30-18:30 only). Rapid chargers: 20p/min.

Get the Suffolk Locals’ Tariff
If you are a Suffolk resident, you could be eligible for discounted prices on charging in Suffolk by signing up to the Locals’ Tariff. To sign up to the Locals’ Tariff, please first register for the Pay As You Go plan via the Believ app.
Once registered, please send a request including a proof of address (e.g., dated utility bill or council tax bill) to hello@believ.com (the link below will open an email in your chosen provider).
A Believ team member will confirm when you have moved onto the Locals’ Tariff.
